If you happen to be a sports fan at Western Mennonite, you have no doubt heard this rally cry of solidarity. “1-2-3 Together!!” There is a reason it continues to resonate with our athletes and our community since Coach Hull first introduced this phrase to the Western community in 1986. We have seen first hand that “Together, Everyone Achieves More”
So it was for us, when God pulled our group together to help kick-start a grassroots fundraising campaign. We knew it would take teamwork. While each of us may have brought some individual gifts to the table, in and of themselves they would have been inconsequential given the scope of the needs of the school. Even still, we knew that if God was IN it, BEHIND it, and BEFORE it, and we were willing to pool those gifts together and submit to His authority, he could use this team to accomplish what we felt he was compelling us to do. As we came together, we watched the Lord in amazement at what He was able to do with our “loaves and fishes”.
So you may be asking, “What does that story have to do me joining a campaign to give $5 a month to Western? My $5 isn’t enough to accomplish anything of any significance.” But that is where you would be mistaken. Just as we added our individual gifts to the fundraising campaign, when you add your $5 donation, share your stories, and then tag at least 2 others and challenge them to do the same, so it will grow and suddenly those individual gifts have multiplied and then….well there is just no telling what God will be able to accomplish.
With this campaign, we have a new rallying cry. Join us won’t you!
